I, like most people, am guilty of what some call “champagne taste on a beer budget” or “eyes bigger than her stomach” or “expensive” or simply “living beyond her means”. It’s a heavy load to bear, especially without help from trust funds or doctor salaries. Lately, with the help of a growing number of discount [...]

Sweet Spot #18: Pumpkin Pots for Chefs and Tots
November 16, 2010
My good friend blew my mind when she showed me this blog. The writer is also a food stylist, photographer and awesome chef. With each new blog post my brain gets a new wrinkle! I drool in awe at everything she posts.
I am debuting her blog, La Tartine Gourmande, in my blog post, with a scrumptious recipe for Spiced pumpkin pots de crème with sautéed apples and pistachios, perfect for this Thanksgiving season. I will try them this weekend and report back – pause for anticipation squeals – in the Comments section.

Sweet Spot #17: The Halloween Scene
October 15, 2010
This is the start of my regular Sweet Spot posts on the Sweet 16 of every month and now is the perfect time to get ready for Halloween! Aside from the need for large print jobs that we do, I know that many of you have no need for such large print jobs, so I [...]
Sweet Spot #10: Here Comes Santa Claus
December 18, 2009
To add the countless information you can find on Google, they now have an inside track on Santa Claus. I just read the most heart-warming story of how the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), of all places, got into the Santa tracking game on the Google Blog. Check out the NORAD Tracks Santa site [...]
Sweet Spot #9: Thankful Crafting
November 13, 2009
When I’m feeling especially crafty, I go and hang out at the Paper Source. It’s best when I go alone, because I can spend hours! They have tons of random gifts, as well as the endless assortment of paper goods, from letterpress stationary to bird magnets. Always a favorite are the DIY Kits!
Sweet Spot #7: Smart Art from the Start
August 20, 2009
We are far from the days of legendary artists Monet and Michelangelo, Picasso and Warhol. Those artists broke new ground and their innovation made them memorable. So many artists have tried new mediums, new techniques, and new obscenities at an attempt to stand out, but few have made comparable impressions. It seems like nowadays, what [...]
Sweet Spot #6: Plan to Plate the Perfect Party
July 6, 2009
I don’t even know how I found these, but I’m wondering where they’ve been all my life! It was like the Loch Ness Monster or Bigfoot. I dreamt about the Holy Grail of party plates, but couldn’t ever find it. I knew I’d seen them somewhere before, but what are they called, and how can [...]
Sweet Spot #5: Party Dots for the Spot
May 21, 2009
Do you love glow bracelets as much as I do? Is your favorite part about the Holidays the light-adorned buildings and trees? When you go to Vegas, could you have just as much fun looking at the neon signs as gambling? Maybe I have a raver inside me, crying to get out, or maybe I [...]
Sweet Spot #4: Mimosas & Moms
April 23, 2009
What’s your favorite part about Mother’s Day, besides mom? Mine is the Sunday Brunch! And the best part of brunch, the mimosas! I always rack my brain, trying to think of the best and most original Mother’s Day gifts. (Hello! #1 MOM mugs are so boring! …. plus her old one hasn’t worn out yet [...]
Sweet Spot #3: Graffiti Galore
April 8, 2009
A few years ago I came across this awesome company that makes custom and stock vinyl graphics to decorate your walls. They do monograms, quotes, decorative patterns, anything you can imagine to personally dress up your walls.
Sweet Spot #2: More bling for your byte
March 5, 2009
This time it’s tech time! How big is your USB thumb drive? I’ve got an old 4GB one (not big enough) that I carry in my purse. Anyone wear theirs like a necklace, on its lanyard? Anyone, like me, wish that someone, anyone, would make a thumb drive that we could display proudly?
Sweet Spot #1: I love my Gmail Stickers, now what do I do with them?
February 19, 2009
This is the first of many Sweet Spots to come… for the impulse buyer in all of us! Google is a vast sea of information, random data, useful apps, and now… stickers. I recently came across a posting on the Gmail Blog about their Gmail Stickers. One of the team’s engineers made them for fun, [...]
