Marketing and advertising executives are anticipating a surge in hiring in the third quarter of this year, according to a report released this week by the Creative Group, suggesting economic conditions are beginning to improve as businesses turn to marketing to reach new customers.
The Hiring Index for Marketing and Advertising Professionals found 22 percent of executives plan to hire full-time employees within the next three-months. Only 3 percent plan to reduce staff, leaving a net 19 percent of respondents expecting hiring to increase, 10 points higher than last quarter.
Interestingly, print design and production professionals are among the most in demand, along with web designers and brand management experts.
"As the economy continues to improve, companies are expanding their service offerings and revitalizing their brand identities," said Donna Farrugia, executive director of The Creative Group. "This is creating demand for professionals who can not only steer and manage overall brand strategy, but also bring ideas to life via online and traditional advertising."
The survey provides a degree of reassurance to the traditional and print marketing sectors, which many analysts have been questioning in regards to their recovery from the economic downturn.
