Executive creations, an Indiana based company, provides custom products and services, including decorations and accessories, for all of life’s celebrations. Founder Stephanie Smith first became inspired to start the business when her daughter was about to turn one.
NDF: Stephanie, what inspired you to start this business?
Stephanie: I have always loved designs in all mediums. It was my daughter’s 1st birthday and I went to the party store to get her decorations. I could not find anything that would fit her personality. I went home and started making her decorations myself. I decided then that I wanted to start a creative service business. I started designing wedding invitations and parties and the business just took off.
NDF: Who are your primary customers?
Stephanie: Everyone who is having a celebration or event. When the business started I mostly worked with brides and moms. However, our business client base is really increasing now.
NDF: What makes Executive Creations (ec) different than the competition?
Stephanie: Clients never pay for a thing until they have a perfect design that they love. We are totally custom. I always meet with clients face to face (no charge) and just spend some time talking with them. If they are not local, then we usually have a good phone conversation. I get a feel for what they are looking for and then I do a few samples.
NDF: Can you tell us more about your process?
Stephanie: Prior to the first meeting I encourage customers to collect fabric swatches, magazine tear-outs, website printouts, and anything else that will help get their desires across, and bring those items on the initial consultation. Collecting images and objects that catch your eye helps ec create the design that is totally you. Then in the first meeting we discuss different themes, colors, textures and embellishments that will help make their design perfect and unique. Next, I develop a few prototypes and then meet with the client again. At that consultation, we discuss their likes and dislikes of the design. We continue to meet and fine-tune the design until the perfect product is developed. All correspondence and consultations are completely free!
NDF: In what capacity does Executive Creations uses Next Day Flyers products?
Stephanie: I use NDF postcards to accommodate custom wedding invitations – I particularly like the heavy cardstock. I also do invitations and save the date NDF cards and I just designed an information card which will go in my marketing collateral to target other businesses. Plus, I use NDF for my own business cards.
