Christmas decorations are always best when they’re made lovingly by hand. We cherish the ones made by our children who come home excitedly from school with holiday decorations made out of macaroni and bits of glue-covered string! These decorations hold such strong memories and feelings. But then there are other kinds of homemade decorations that cause very different reactions.
The first of these consist of those amazingly modern and artistic Christmas decorations that make us stare in holiday awe at how well crafted they are and how they are just too good to be bought in a store! The second consist of those hideously bad or strange decorations that make us chuckle at their ridiculousness. It is these kinds of holiday decorations that we can’t wait to share with you in this blog post. So sit back and stare in bewilderment at how good and how bad the following decorations are.

String Decorations
These beautiful decorations are made entirely from string and glue. Not that difficult an effect to achieve and they look spectacular as standing candles or tree decorations – very stylish indeed.
Nothing says “Merry Christmas” and makes the kids smile like Rudolph’s severed hoof!? Especially when you stick bright red baubles on it! Like most of the decoration fails in this post, we’re not quite sure is absolutely brilliant or just plain bad?
These Christmas decorations use clear buttons to create a fabulous light-reflecting effect. A super-simple but absolutely magical decorative addition to your tree.
Paper tree garlands are hardly a new thing, but the way these have been made and executed creates a super-stylish touch to any fireplace or entrance. Easy to make and brimming with holiday elegance.
These handmade paper flower designs are simply stunning. They will look amazing as table decorations or decorations for the mantle.

Beer Box Manger
“And lo did she wrap him in swaddling clothes and lay him in a manger made from the most holy twenty-four pack!” I’m pretty sure this verse was never in the bible? Using a 24 pack of beer box as the manger for a nativity scene is just so wrong on every level!
From one extreme to another as far as taste level goes! In fairness though, this nudie Santa Claus is really funny (I’m so glad he at least had his hat!)
There’s something extra-stylish about decorations that utilize simple cloth and materials. Take for instance this cloth pom-pom decoration with hessian bow, it looks so unique and chic.
Aaaah! Just like reindeer, elves, penguins, and cute little robin redbreasts, nothing is quite as seasonally cute or festive as a hanging conjoined twin embryo!!?!
Not sure if I should call this a big win! There’s something quite brilliant and clever about this homemade decoration of Miley on her wrecking ball that’s not to everyone’s taste but gets a round of applause from me! It’s also an easy one to make, not much “twerk” at all [sic]!

Pine Cone Trees
It seems so obvious to take a pine cone and make a beautiful little Christmas tree out of it, I’m surprised no one ever thought of it before?
It seems so stupid to take a bunch of empty beer cans and make a ridiculous Christmas decoration out of it, I’m surprised someone ever thought of this? (Sigh!)
